Meet and greet #5: Eric Whitacre

Naturally, we wanted to hear first and foremost what Eric had to say about his piece "Lux Aurumque", one of his most famous compositions. "Lux" was a mainstay in the repertoire of the Männerstimmen for years, not only because it is (as of yet!) one of the few Whitacre pieces that are available in a male choir version, but also because it is able to produce an incredible musical effect, in the choir as well as in the audience. In the clip below, Eric explains how he manages to produce this effect by literally taking everyone's breath away.
